Italian Breadsticks
These breadsticks are always delicious, especially when freshly baked. Enjoy them with a spicy dip as an appetizer, wrapped with prosciutto, or alongside a bowl of soup.
Ingredients
For approximately 10 sticks
175 grams of Lisa's Choice gluten-free flour
150 grams of Greek yogurt (10% fat)
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 tablespoon of psyllium
3 tablespoons of water
olive oil
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of Italian herbs + extra for sprinkling on the sticks
gluten-free flour for rolling out the sticks
10 slices of prosciutto (Parma ham)
optional: sesame seeds, coarse salt, Parmesan cheese
Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and herbs.
3. Add Greek yogurt and mix well.
4. If the mixture is too dry, add a tablespoon of water.
5. Once you have a slightly sticky dough, form balls of about 30 grams each.
6. Roll out the balls into sticks about 15 cm long. Rolling them out is easier if you sprinkle a little gluten-free flour on your work surface and on your hands.
7. Generously brush the sticks with oil and sprinkle some additional dried Italian herbs on top. You can also try sesame seeds, coarse sea salt, or grated (Parmesan) cheese.
8. Bake the sticks for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
9. Once the sticks are completely cooled, wrap a slice of ham around each stick.
The sticks are best when baked shortly before serving.
If you prefer a more neutral taste, you can omit the Italian herbs added to the dough.
